We're Here!

We arrived at about midnight last night at Entebbe after some difficulties traveling. Wie received all our luggage except Israel's suitcase. There is no way to get his suitcase from Entebbe airport to Kabale so we are going to buy him some clothes to take! We will be leaving Kampala around noon today to drive to Kabale. We are sitting at the Turinawe's house, the nicest Uganda home David's ever been in, having coffee and then will visit MTN to update our cell phones.

We got to bed at 1am and are a bit tired. Christopher, our driver, has loaded all the suitcases (except Israel's) and we are off! Please pray for safe travel today to Kabale.

We look forward to the two worship services tomorrow in the village. The first will be at All Saints Church and David is preaching. Then we will have lunch and the big ecumenical service begins at 2pm (or thereabouts...) David is preaching at that service as well. We expect hundreds to attend from at least 17 churches: Church of Uganda (Anglican), Roman Catholic, Pentecostal and Muslims.

Be well - we miss you and wish you all could experience what we are experiencing. We'll do our best to convey that through this blog and when we return.

  1. Good morning from Clarkston, Michigan! I hope your later departure means that you were able to get a good nights rest in! I am assuming you must not be going to the wedding tonight since you did have a late start. I hope you have a wonderful day and don't forget about the zebra for Zette, Dad :) God's speed!
    In Him,

  2. Thank you for your email, Dad! I called Mom and we're both very grateful to hear from you. I don't know exactly how to reply to it or if you are even able to look at these comments I've posted. I thought you would have called by now but I'm sure you're exhausted, busy, and have a lot going on ... I'm working on some patience :) We've painted both bathrooms, the kitchen, and the hallway! I whined and moaned through the whole thing - Brian was less than pleased :) Tom's convinced you're on a luxury vacation because he saw that there's a Hilton and Sheraton in Kampala ...he also thinks the desert is like a beach - I will continue to clarify! I miss you and I am praying for all of your safety and efforts. Have you opened any letters yet? Please be safe, apply your sunscreen every two hours (on your ears, nose, and neck too), and drink lots of water!
    Love always,
    Ashley

  3. Hello to Susan, David, Ced, Tim and Israel from Midland,

Many people from church (MPC) asked about the mission today and how things were going. I told them that you have arrived safely and were headed to Kabale district yesterday. Prayers were offered at worship for the team and your efforts there. Hope that your worship experience(s) was/were good and that David's message was received with joy and understanding.

For Sue, the bathroom remodel is nearing completion, the paint is awesome and the shower door, mirrors, lights, makeup mirror and hand towel rings are all in place. Looks likely that things will be finished on Monday so that you will have a new bath to come home to upon your return.

Peace and grace to you all,

    John
